4 November 2025
From October 21 to 24, 2025, the city of Sarajevo hosted the AURORA Training School, an international event dedicated to innovation in cultural heritage protection. Over four days of workshops, lectures and collaborative activities, researchers, conservators, technologists and museum professionals from across Europe came together to learn, connect and co-create.
A Shared Success
Organised with care and precision by Tinexta Innovation Hub and BMN – Balkan Museum Network, the Training School marked a key milestone for the AURORA project, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and building a vibrant European community of practice.
Thanks to the contributions of all project partners, the programme offered high-level content and moments of genuine human connection.
Where Technology Meets Heritage
Throughout the Training School, participants explored:
- Indoor localization and tracking technologies for museum artefacts
- Blockchain and NFT applications for art authentication and management
- Conservation ethics and risk assessment strategies
- Global efforts to combat illicit trafficking of cultural heritage, with insights from OSCE and the Hungarian National Museum
- Policy recommendations co-developed with sister projects ANCHISE and ENIGMA
Each session blended scientific rigour with open dialogue, generating new ideas and strengthening a shared mission.
The Faces of the School
Beyond the content, what made this Training School truly special were the faces: smiles, curious eyes, moments of deep focus and spontaneous laughter. A palpable energy that turned learning into experience, and collaboration into community.
A Farewell That Feels Like a Beginning
The AURORA Training School closes with gratitude and vision. The seeds planted in Sarajevo will continue to grow in the months ahead, fueling new projects, relationships and solutions for the protection of Europe’s cultural heritage.
Thank you to all who participated, contributed and believed in this journey.
